Well I think you have some good points. I think you're missing a big chunk of reasoning here. All these companies are FOR PROFIT. That means that they're in business to make money. While I think they have to offer value to their customers, you still need to remember at the end of the day these companies are responsible to make some money.

Most of them are public companies which means they have to answer to their shareholders and worry about stock prices declining.
As for the xbox special treatment. I think this happens for two reasons. The first is the largest demographic of console games are xbox players. I don't have the specific stats on this, but that's not needed. The fact that content is release first (due an agreement between two companies) and the support goes to xbox leads me this conclusion.
Let me pose this question to you... If you're selling a product, do you want to reach the largest base of customers or do you want to go into a small bsae, mom and pop type of store? You're obviously going to want to sell as much as you can.

Now my complaint with both companies is they need to pay a little closer attention to the community... make your money, but listen to the people buying your shit.
