Barracks->Leaderboards->kills->Global->Top of list->Scroll up to jump to bottom of list-> join session in progress. Note that sometimes the newbie is either not playing online atm, playing a different mode or in full room so it takes some time finding a joinable Boot camper.

Yes its possible because i did it before.
one of my cousins were in bootcamp cause they just started in WaW and i joined session in progress and i was lvl 63 and i killed them all Lol

click on core - team deathmatch - back to xbox live menus- then quickly press - A -A UP A and if done fats enough youll be in bootcamp Happy
