the reason why is because if you knife them in crouch or even standing you have the chance of doing the "stab knife where your knife goes inside them and then the zomibe (on verruckt molsty bc they swing wildly) and when your in prone you only can do the quick stab where you just slash, and also ive found out when you kill them in prone with the knife you get a power up more often..

the method i use is go in prone knife him, back up and keep doing it

another good way is to let em get close just as there about to swing walk back a bit and knife

u wont hear the knifing sound but u will see the blood splatter
