I heard you can only gameshare the zombie maps if you bought the hardened or prestige edition. Which kind of defeats the purpose.

no, you can share them regardless. All the hardened and prestige edition give you are the codes to download them from PSN/XBL. I know many people here and in person who have the maps and don't have the hardened or prestige edition.
