Go to Control Panel, then go to device manager, then right click Disk DVD drive then update driver software. Or try the disk drives one...

Can't help you no more because I'll get banned after this post.

Yeah... I don't think any of the replies to this thread have helped him. With that error you likely have a problem with your hard drive. This can be a simple as a bad sector which a chkdsk should fix, or as bad as a corrupt master boot record (MBR) which would require a complete reformat of the drive. The disk could have also physically failed, in which case you'll need to buy a new hard drive.

I'd first boot into the recovery console using your Windows CD and try a chkdsk on your drive. If that fails, try reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling Windows. If you really need to recover files from the drive, you can try doing so using a Linux live CD and attempting to mount your hard drive to recover files (which would have to be copied to second hard drive or a USB drive).

If You can at start up, press F8 rapidly, if a black screen with some words appear, with the arrows move onto safe mode, and hit enter. if it will start up click on your user on the logon screen, a window will pop up, click yes, then try to make a virus scan or check disc

Hope i helped.
