Okay guys try this, go to aol.com and sign into your e-mail with your screen name. After you signed in scroll down and there should be a box with a bunch of apps, one of them AIM. Click on that and it will show what friends are online and you can IM them. Also magg, that link you gave isn't working for me in chrome.

I'm using Chrome as well and it works just fine. What about it "isn't working"?
