They took it to geek squad, and they said the hard drive failed and it had a virus, so they're giving me the laptop. Can I put a new hard drive in there and install a new OS and it would be up and running? I'm getting it for free and I dont wanna dump money on it that wont go to any help. So what should I do?

Yer just unscrew the hard drive and by a new one and put that in to the laptop then boot it up and install whatever os you want on their like you normally would should be fine also get a 1tb(terabyte) hard drive under £50 in uk and it's like 1024 gb or something around their
