I wait and it usually says press f1 to retry boot , and that usually does it. But for some reason it didn't work. So today i thought i'd crack out the win xp cd and repair it. But everytime i tried to it would freeze. So i thought if i format my HDD that will sort the problem , so i formatted the hard drive. I also deleted my old partition and made a new one. So i feel its going to be ok now. It copies over the system files and says i need to restart. So i restart and it says setting up windows then askes me again if i want to repair or install windows. I have no ideas what to do. I have tried to install Unbutu and even that wont install. All i want is an OS to work please help me.

hey frazz! you have two options,

install windows, losing all you're legondary work because when installed it DELETES EVERYTHING ON YOUR COMPUTER, and resets with factory settings, thats good, but alot alot of download of what ever you do ( guy thing lmfao )

Repairing will try to repair broken files, such as missing .dll files which is deadly important, so i HIGHLY suggest re-installing

i have a question ( sorry for on you're thread )
i booted my PC DESKTOP UP and it says windows has an error <windows root>//System32//dal.dll missing file ?

I think iv fixed it , i ran driver diagnostic . I ran a dos version and its fixing it just now.

Okay good !

If anyone else has this problem make sure it is a NTFS drive not ext3 or a swap drive
