(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I had Windows installed and then installed Ubuntu 10.10 (I believe) through a flash drive. Ubuntu was great but wanted to switch back to Windows for a second. I shutdown my computer and then tried booting up again but it kept saying something like Ïndex out of range. Switch to 1600x900 60Hz". it stayed like that for a while and I tried again. I also tried pressing Esc to pull up Boot options on startup but nothing worked on there. :( PLEASE HELP! I am stuck on a pretty much empty Ubuntu with nothing to do. :(

I partitioned my drive on my HP laptop, had no problems. I used ubuntu 11, but I used a CD instead of Flash. It does sound like ubuntu and windows are trying to use different screen resolutions.

Yes, but I have no idea how to change the settings when it tells me to. The menu button on my monitor doesn't work when it says to switch to t a screen resolution.

edit: Just checked and it said I'm using the same Screen resolution. Gonna try shutting it down and see what happens.

you put in your system os disk and do fix repairs if it cant go back to a earlier stage you might have given your ubuntu primary partition and now windows wont boot right since its not really there . this is why you back files up in case something bad happens
