(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Okay, my apologies if this is in the wrong section, but i searched for this already and all i found was a load of stuff about hacking PS3's . My problem is this ;

My Freeview TV reciever supports a USB connection to devices in FAT32 format. As does my PS3. When i got my External HDD, my generous sister packed it with movies , which was brilliant, until i tried to play one :happycry:

I know what you're thinking, just format the god damn thing, but i can't D= my laptop gives me the option to format it to NTFS (current format) or exFAT, the new FAT32. Now i've finally moved my movies to my PC, so..any help on getting it to FAT32?

I've heard people say it can't format a drive that big, and i've heard about something called swissknife too, but i've heard people say that can't format something so big either D=
Any help would be greatly appreciated ( also +rep to whoever helps meDancing )

You may need to partition it (split it into 2 parts), then you can format the smaller partition. Just google how to partition a drive it's pretty easy.

I know how to partition, but if i do partition it, will all of the movies show up still in one file location? or will there be two (most likely 3) separate locations of everything?

I just don't see why Sony updates it's compatibility to exFAT too, FAT32 was supposed to die off years ago , and that god damn 4GB limit /facepalm

Uhh, I've formatted a 1TB drive with Swissknife. I'm pretty sure you can. FAT can't recognize more that 4gb at a time, so if your movies are more than that then you may be screwed either way. Try Swissknife, it worked for me, buy don't quote me on that, I don't want any responsibility in what may happen.

To lay it out, you can't format a drive 1TB or higher to FAT32.

With Swissknife you can format a drive that's up to 2TB to FAT32.
