try re installing the sound card driver.

also wen i go to Star->All Programmes->Acceseries->Entertainment->Volume Control i get a error message saying 'There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Pannel, clik Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware' wen i go control panner there is no Printer and other hardware (i got xp)

is it an off the shelf laptop ? if so the laptop will have a driver website. For example if its a dell then go to dell.com and enter your laptops details and the list of drivers it uses will be shown and updates will be available for them.

it came with wireless speakers but i lost it lol, it uses the speakers on the computer
