Post: How do you use the shutdown -i

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); ok im trying to shutdown my laptop from my computer. they are both connected on 1 router, and i have windows 7 on both of them. i go on my computer and click command prompt. then i write shutdown -i, then i put in the ip adress of my laptop (the one i want to shutdown) and then i click unexpected shutdown and click ok. then nothing happens and it says access denied on the command prompt. what am i doing wrong????

At least I can fight
I've never tried using that command within my router but try opening command prompt as administrator then doing it.
( My Computer > C: Drive > Windows > system32 > cmd,exe )
Tell me if this doesnt work :y:

Ive always gotten that error when i tried the shutdown -i thing :/

i tried it but now it doesnt work and says failed to connect to regestry

I think you need the admin user and pass for the computer you need to shut down.

no my laptop has no pass i just log in when i go on it

no you have to be admin on your computer when trying to shutdown others with command prompt

Do a barrel roll!
Your computer needs to be connected to a domain with Active Directory enabled. Once this is done either open up cmd and type in 'shutdown -i' or 'shutdown /i', hit browse and it should list the computers that are connected to the network - If you are connected to a large network DO NOT CLICK BROWSE. It will take forever, instead just get the name of the computer. Another way to do it is open up notepad and type in 'shutdown -i' or 'shutdown /i', save the file as .bat and it will open up the same dialog.

that seems right i think this guy covered everything thanking you post now
