(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); To those downloading, do not use Virus Total on the webpage URL link. This is just a page not the actual file. When you are going to scan you must scan the actual download link.

Here is the difference and what you must do.

You must login or register to view this content.

This right here is an example from one of the downloads on this site. This URL is the direct link to the page for where the actual download. When using sites like Megaupload, the real download link is different. Megaupload requires 45 seconds before you can get it.

Here is the actual link.

You must login or register to view this content.

You see the difference in the two. If you were to scan the first one you would only be scanning the website not any actual files. If you were to scan the second image URL which the actual link to the actual download file then you will be getting the real download results.

You must login or register to view this content. Right click over the actual download link and "Copy link address".

The same goes for sites such a Rapidshare, Mediafire, megaupload, Fileups... ect.

So next time you go and upload a file, be sure to give the actual download link the virus scan not the URL link that presents the download link to the actual product because that isn't scanned. This is why some of the things being uploaded are showing up as virus free when they are not. The actual file isn't being scanned.

Remember, Virustotal.com. You must use it for each download and show the proof within the same post you are presenting the files to be downloaded.

Thank you for taking your time and reading this.

The URL within this thread was just an example, I took it from another thread as an example, I am not liable for what it contains.

Well, I have noticed people don't do this. They just take the URL page and well from what I have seen, a couple of small viruses have been spread this way. If they would have done it the way it was required, then the viruses may have been caught.

Ya there was this guy who posted some files in premium and he posted a virustotal link. I mentioned that a lot of these types of files were infected and he used the virustotal scan as a defense which made me confused. I'm gonna show him this thread. Smile

Yea, I tried informing a few mods about this but I basically no response, minus the guy above. If I can get enough support for this maybe we can get it stickied and spread about so that people know what should be happening and what is happening.

Inform people about this thread, I'm tired of these fake scans, either enforce real scans or remove the need for them.
