(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); My desktop for some reason just keeps randomly restarting. it could go for a few hours with out it happening or just a few minutes. I have it set to not reboot when there is an error because this is meant to make it display an error code so I can goggle the problem, but that doesn't happen, it just reboots again.

I am now thinking that it may be the power supply. There is also a kind of hissing noise I suppose you'd call it, coming from the power supply as well. I was just wondering if any one knows a free way of testing the power supply or if there's is anything else that could be causing it to reboot.

When this first started happening I installed a new hard drive and done a fresh install of windows xp so I know it's not a virus related problem.

Never heard of this problem before, if it's not your power supply I'm not sure. Could it be a bad wall outlet?

Power supplies are cheap, it sounds like you have a bad power supply. Test the wall outlet with other devices and see how well they function, although it might already be too late for your power supply as it could be damaged.

If the outlet is good, then it's just time for a replacement power supply. :P

If you just reformatted, try reformatting again though. Sometimes installations don't come out right.
