(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey, I bought a Samsung P3 Portable 1tb HDD. I have it hooked up to my laptop via a USB 3.0 connection. Now, here is the question: Is it possible to fully install and play games from an external HDD? My laptop only has 100gb of internal SSD memory :/

Yes you can play some games on external but i think that they need to be on fat32 if its on NTFS or exfat the backup manager like multiman can read it but to play it you need to copy it to PS3 HDD , well im not sure about this but it happens to me and im doing this way on my ps3.hope i could help you.

You can, its going to act like any other drive however I wouldn't. Be better off getting an internal HDD later down the road.

USB read speeds are simply alot slower than SATA speeds. USB also puts some stress on the CPU (I've noticed this more if you are using a USB header and not the ones that are actually right on the board) and it's bandwidth is shared among all usb devices that are in use.

If that's all you have for now then by all means go for it. It won't hurt anything and you can easily move those installs to a new drive later if you choose to do so.
