Post: 1 Million for Whoever Fix My Flash Memory
09-28-2010, 11:13 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I bought a 16 GB HP flash memory the other day it called (v165w)

i wanted to copy my MP3 folder to, it's about (8 GB) i started copying it and it said going to take 25 minute, so i let it copying and went to sleep. I woke up the next day and there was an error and the folder stoped copying half way, i tried to delete the folder and it just says (it's write-protected) i tried adding to it, it says the same thing it's write protected, when i tried to format it, it said its write protected.

I tried every way to format it non of them worked, I spent the whole day yesterday trying to format it but couldn't.

here is what I tried so far:
- formating from disk managment (device media is write protected)
- format in safe mode (no difference)
- removing write protection from the registry StorageDevicePolicies (didn't work)
- used HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool (write protected)
- used Hard Disk Low Level Format Tool (Kept saying error for 24 hour)
- and a couple more tools couldn't even find the device.

whoever fixes it i will send him 1 million vBux, i spent 60 dollars on the stick.

This may sound silly, but have you knocked the little write protect switch on the side,

also run a CMD window and type " CHKDSK X: /F " obviously replacing X with your drive letter

also when you say you used the low level tool, did you mean this one ?

You must login or register to view this content.

its a good tool, but can take several attempts to fix the error, so run it more than once.

Wait...what?
Try opening My Computer.

Then right click the drive and select properties.

Select Security then edit settings.

Just give everyone on the PC the right to use the stick.

I guess this is the best advice I can offer :|

Tis is a long shot but here it goes... There is a program called maxblast 5 that is very good at formatting drives here is a link to it ... If it lets you delete the drive all together from disk manager that is even better but if it does not then it should not be a problem...
You must login or register to view this content.
Once you have downloaded it run it (after a quick restart) and it should show your drive and let you do whatever you want to it...

Dude, take it from me as a hardware professional in training, it has failed beyond repair, if you only bought it the other day, take it back as it is still under warranty Smile

Something, I don't know what, has gone wrong with the device m8, could be a power surge, or plainly a faulty device full stop m8. The only way you would ever know is to take the fooker apart and run some tests on the circuit board and chips. This would void the warranty tho  Like I said, if it is only a few days old return it!

Well since it is not working anyway rub a magnet over it and maybe JUST maybe it will clear everything and still work again... but that is a BIG maybe.... It could destroy it...
