The Official Apple Thread
You must login or register to view this content.

Greetings. This is 'the' official Apple thread. The purpose of this thread is to allow a place for civilized and constructive discussion on Apple products. Ranging from things like reviews, updates, news, and etcetera are all viable discussions in this thread. I'll do my best to keep this thread updated and maintained, and will put up the occasional poll to see where the community stands on certain things. So let's get started, shall we?

Anticipated Releases:

Mac OS X Lion (v. 10.7) -- Summer 2011 (You must login or register to view this content.)
Mac OS X Lion is the next big operating system for Apple users. Although not too long ago Apple unveiled and released Snow Leopard, many agree it was a polished version of the previous operating system, Leopard. There are plenty of new things in store for users with this new operating system. Some featured additions include:

  • You must login or register to view this content.(available now)
  • Launchpad -- Gives you a full screen view of all of your applications. Somewhat similar to the regular viewing of applications on other products like the iPhone.
  • Full Screen Applications
  • Mission Control -- Think of it was one step further than Dashboard and / or Exposé. This allows you to view everything running on your computer; your desktop, dashboard, and applications.
  • Auto-Save
  • Versions -- Automatically creates versions of documents as you save / open them, and each passing our you work on it. Shouldn't have deleted something earlier in the day? Don't worry, Versions has your back.
  • Resume -- Have to restart your computer? Never fear, Resume will keep all your applications open and ready for you when you get back.
  • Mail 5
  • Air-Drop -- A new, wireless way to send files and the like to others. No setup is required. Simply click the icon on the Finder sidebar, and you can send something to anyone in the general proximity using Air-Drop.

Currently Popular Apple Products --

  • iPhone 4
  • iPod Touch 4th Generation
  • iPad 2

Let's try and keep this somewhat civilized, shall we? Questions about apple products, reviews, and all that good stuff can be thrown in here.

Essentially this will serve as a resource. Drinking Coffee

What he said. Just say you have a question or a sort. Come into this thread and make sure it hasn't already been discussed before making a thread. If not, ask it in here or make your own thread. Drinking Coffee

The only criticism i have with Macs is that the lack of hardware upgrades especially with the iMacs since (at least on my one) you can only upgrade the RAM.

I upgraded my RAM a while back. I suppose for someone who is more tech savvy, Macs aren't the best. However when you're someone like me who is looking for nice, simple online experience without any need of down to the wire upgrades, Macs are the way to go.

Has anyone downloaded the Developer Preview 2 for Mac OS X Lion? I recently did. Looking to see if anyone has any thoughts on it.
