Malware Bytes is a good one, I use that. Mcafee is by far one of the worst anti viruses around, the only reason why it is still going is people are idiots and buy an antivirus for 20 dollars and then gets an extra 5 years for like 10 bucks extra a year... AVG is alright.
I'd say Bitdefender, Nod32, or Malware Bytes are a good choice. Norton is good but it is too famous and so a lot of people work on coding it so that antivirus does not catch it, but they tend not to focus on other anti viruses so others catch it. Norton also uses up a lot of memory.

no man AVG it's not alright
as you know i worked on a crypter a few months, the first AV that the crypter bypassed was AVG! you can also bypass it only changing file assembly and adding some junk codes, trust me
