(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok so i was using my laptop yesterday and it randomly started smoking. I was using it for a while and it was charging. The charger is not the original from the computer manufacturer but it was one that i got from the local pc store that they said would work for my computer. PLEASE HELP WITH SUGGESTIONS. (ps it has not done it since, it happened yesterday and i took the battery out and let it air out and didnt use it till a little bit ago.)

Maybe the charger is too high of voltage for it, or maybe its not getting enough air in the vents. Or maybe a fan went out. open it and take a look, and if not take it to a shop.

I have both the original power cord and the new one and the voltages are the same it says 120-200 watts. But it could possibly be the air vent because they are on the bottom and i was using it on my couch so it wouldnt have the best ventilation

Thats most likely it, try buying a laptop holder to help with ventilation.
