What Windows are you running? Certain editions of windows support different limits
What's the frequency of you're ram? 1333Mhz, 1600Mhz, 1866Mhz ?

I read somewhere else that different branded ram can be a bit of a trouble. Another way to solve your problems is to remove your old ram and stick in the new ones but then again your spare ram would be wasted :/

Well for starters:
1.Don't mix and match ram, you'll for sure run into performance issues.
2. Remove a stick of ram, reboot and then see if the problem persists. Continue till it doesn't.
3. Could be a board limitation, but I highly doubt it since it either wont post or it would just ignore anything over the limit

That makes no difference at all, the only thing that matters is if it's either 32 or 64 bit.
