Post: Processor Capable of running PCSX2

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I really want to use the PCSX2 Playstation 2 emulator, the only problem is I can't get past 15 fps. I'm using a Toshiba laptop (Satellite L505) with the Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU TS500 @ 2.1 GHz, 3 GB of Ram, and Windows 7 (32-bit). I honestly don't know if it's possible to upgrade the CPU, but if that's the case, I could hypothetically get an old desktop computer and upgrade that. Any thoughts are welcomed, Thanks.

I remember trying it and achieving 30-60fps per game (60 if the frame skipper works properly). I got 60fps on games like crash bandicoot, suffering, psi ops, and jak 3. I got 30 on games like Dragonball z budokai tenkiachi 3 and god of war and some other games I cant remember.

I have a weaker processer than yours (dual core 1.80ghz) and I got 2GB of RAM, also got gt 520 (graphics card).

Should be working better for you, try switching up your settings.

Well, I'm using all the default settings because I honestly don't know what practically anything does. Any recommendations on where to start?

- I tried messing around a little myself. I tried all default presets for the emulator settings. 3 (balanced) seemed to work the best. I tried switching between the sse2, sse4, and ssse3 graphic plugins, ssse3 being the best, but no combination I could come up with would get over 20 fps. Another notable thing is when Configured the renderer to Direct3D10, PCSX2 stopped responding and it gave me this pop-up

With the ps3 the ps2 game are laggy so with your pc and your 2 core you never gonna have more than 15fps Drack

I really don't think it'll be the CPU that's letting you down. It's more likely to be the onboard graphics. Not sure though.

do you know if an i5-450M processor and Intel HD Graphics Card with 3GB should be good enough? I tried to run KH 2 on this specs but it was way to laggy :(

Really not sure man. The CPU is certainly good enough, it's just the graphics that usually lets these down. Onboard graphics is not very powerful for gaming.

You're probably right. I just looked at the "Windows Experience Index" and the Processor/Ram rating is 5.5 while the graphics and gaming graphics were only 3.3 :( I too am on a laptop :/
Thanks for the help anyways

How do you get the emulator to work?
It never works for me.
Just got a new PC, might try it again...

Got a 3.6GHZ processor Smile !
