As the title says, this is my first time building a computer. First off, I need to know if all of these parts are compatible. If so, can you think of anything that would be better and fit in my price range? I'd like to keep it under $750. Thanks!

Save yourself $100 and pirate your OS. Then you could use the money to get something better.

Heh, that's always a possibility. Question though, would there be a way to transfer it from my laptop? Sorry if it's a dumb question.

You will have to burn it to either a DVD or maybe you will be able to rip it to a USB as I think 7 can do that

I'm too lazy to hyper link it all.
That build is much better, and much more future proof. As said above, pirate windows, its real easy.

You will most likely not be able to transfer it from your laptop unless you bought the laptop without windows on it and installed it on afterwards. When you buy a laptop/PC with windows already on it, then that is called OEM windows and it is cheaper than the normal one as it is tied to the motherboard and if the motherboard is replaced, or dies you will need a new windows copy.

Thanks a lot. Looks pretty awesome. Smile You put the case where the PSU goes though.

Also, my laptop did come with Windows installed.

Theres a fine PSU, nothing special about it but its reliable and will do the job.

You can either buy Windows so or pirate it, you won't be able to transfer it.

That GPU seems to have some overheating problems. Any alternatives?

Never heard of any heating problems of it, XFX are a good manufacturer and are great for overclocking.
Probably the most reliable one would be the sapphire model, but thats 10$ more.
