The amount of cores only tells half of the story. In this case I've checked the CPU benchmarks and the FX-8150 (8178 ) outdoes the i5-3570k (7721) by 457 points. I'd still pick the i5 though.

You would assume that because the AMD processor has double the cores it's benchmark should be at least double that of the i5's benchmark score. Keep in mind that Intel and AMD have exclusive patented technologies and behind the specifications there are technologies at play of which I personally prefer Intel's attributes.

tl;dr FX if you really care about a tiny bit more performance.

No. The 8150 is terrible for gaming. Black edition or not, they are power hungry and bottleneck with even mid range graphics cards. The 3570k is the way to go, however get an aftermarket CPU cooler.

Yeah I have been using the stock fan for almost 10 months now. I use MSI afterburner to ramp up the fan speed so that the temperatures under full load don't surpass 65 degrees. Some people say that it's loud, but I have closed back headphones so I can't really hear it. On idle I have no issue.

It might also be worth mentioning that I flashed my card with a custom fan unlock BIOS so that I can use 30 percent all the way to 100 percent fan speed. The stock model goes 40-90 I believe.
