Post: Problems Reinstalling Windows XP
10-25-2012, 10:41 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I recently decided to see what I could do to my old Dell Dimension 8400, as far as speeding it up. After messing around with some things, and some Google searches, I decided I would wipe my C: drive and reinstall Windows XP. I found a detailed guide online, which can be found You must login or register to view this content..

After finishing the install, my computer tries to restart, but gets the Blue Screen of Death. I am able to restart and boot from disk again, but can't seem to solve the issue...Anyone have any tips or solutions? Thanks in advance.

well ik when windows xp came out the ahci was not used so its not able to read the hdd "setup" correctly if you switch to raid and install xp then it should install correctly but do mind if you install another os it has to be able to run off the same method or it will destroy your bootloader and you will need your disk to repair this

either push f12 ,f10 to enter into setup it shows you when your pc starts then go to anything that deals with onboard operations something like enabling usbs graphics hdd info anything dealing with hdd look for and then it will say what mode its in switch to raid if it dont fix the issue post a full list of pc parts and what xp version your trying to install

Can’t trickshot me!
My opinion, something went wrong went copying files form disc to HDD., not a surious files though. That's way most of the people install windows form a Flash drive. It is quick and it is safe.

Hello man! First of all you should go to the system setup which you get by pressing F10 after restarting the computer. And make sure that your BIOS and RAID setting is OK. I mean if it is set to the windows 7 then only windows 7 can run and windows xp cannot be installed and if it is set to windows XP then only windows XP can be installed. I think by following these instruction you can easily installed windows xp on your PC.
