If icons on the desktop have been hidden from view for any reason they need to be made visible so the new shorcut we will create can be seen.

1.Right Click the desktop

2.Choose view followed by shown desktop icons

3.Now create a new shorcut

Shutdown /s - to tur it off
and Shutdown /L - to log off
