Well it is and it isn't. Yes linux is great but I use linux and one computer because it respects my freedom and doesn't invade my privacy. But on my main PC I use 7 for the variety of software and I occasionally play games.
I have to say though some things on Linux are a lot more simple than windows. e.g. sudo apt-get update and even then it doesn't reboot like winshit does. But when shit goes wrong or shit doesn't work it's a pain, I had to spend ages trying to get some fucking touchpad driver working and in the end I couldn't find the fucking driver. so had to settle for doing synclient TapButton 1=1, 2=2 etc then editing the fucking synaptics.conf file all just after install when I had no idea what I was doing.

Yes Linux is a lot more just through-you-in-the-wind. You really need to know what you are doing in that terminal. And Windows SHOULD have better support, Microsoft is one of the largest companies in the world!
I also game on windows but Linux gaming is on its way and once it is in full force will be much better. I really can't wait.
