but when i tried turning it on, nothing happens?
i tried doing the pin thing with the power headers, but that too will not do anything.
do i have a defect mobo?

if you still dont have it going, you must install an operating system to make it switch on. Ive just built my PC and i had install the operating system before it even done anything.

You sure you have everything plugged in properly from the PSU? Make sure the 24 pin motherboard connector is connected to the motherboard properly. If it boots into the BIOS then nothing is wrong, you just need to install your operating system for you to actually get it to work. Even without an operating system it will still boot.

It's possible that you may have damaged the CPU when you placed it, or that it's dead. Or that your motherboard is dead too. If the above doesn't work, I suggest going in part by part and checking the build. Make sure there are no bent pins in the motherboard socket (or if you have AMD on the CPU itself), and make sure that you are properly connected to your GPU and that it is put in properly. Also, if you are using an extension cord or something, bypass that temporarily and plug it in directly into the wall, there is a possibility that the extension cord is either not working or not delivering enough power to the machine.

Try switching the pins the opposite way

Does your mobo have a debug LED? If so does it have any readouts on it?

i guess i burned out one of the system fans, and when i left the fans out, the circuit didnt cycle,
so i removedd the fans and connected it directly to the psu, and the mobo started.
thanks
