In Flames Much?
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So it appears my DVD RW drive has started to play up.
Mainly it reading all discs as blank, I know the laptop is a bit old at 09 but still would like another year out of the thing.

So far I tried some basic cleaning.
Tried with a number of discs CD, DVDs it won't run the CDs but DVDs reads them as blank.

Due a upgrade of hardware so if it past it time no big deal just would like to try and fix it.
Could be fun also to try and fix it Smile

I'm not sure you can fix the portion of the CD drive that reads the disk. You said you tried to clean it etc, which is what I would have suggested you to do first. Could it be a driver related issue? It's a possibility, although unlikely. You could try to do a system restore to before you noticed this issue, or perhaps install drivers form the laptops website.

At this point the most painless thing to do if that doesn't work is to just buy a new CD drive for your laptop. I'm sure there has to be some up on ebay etc. Or just pick up a cheap external one.

RIP PICHU.
Just go and buy a new dvd drive, you can find them for cheap. 2009 isn't old for a computer, I've ran a computer from 2002 up until 2012 where I got the computer I have now, talk about slow.

This one is faster but is still 5 years old. Dual Core, 2.2 ghz, 4gb of DDR2 Ram w/ integrated Q33 Graphic Chipset.

You can buy those for about 19.99$ from time to time. Check Newegg for those.

Btw, just bought a new laptop; get it this upcoming Monday. Hoping it is worth the 1034$.

Could always see if there was a firmware update. It could very well have been a problem that could have been fixed.
