First off I'm not sure if this is right place to post so please move if so

Anyway I'm interested in building my own computer and need a question answered on the PSU, if the GPU says it requires a 450w PSU to power it does this mean a 450w PSU would be able to supply the power needed or does it mean it needs 450w to power it which means I would have to get a higher PSU so it can power the GPU and the motherboard, CPU etc.

Many thanks

If means you need a minimum of a 450W. The card wont suck up 450W

If its a 450w try to get a 500w if on a budget. Don't ever get anything super cheap. The cheapest I'd get is a corsair cx500

Others may disagree but what I would do it go to pcpartpicker.com and put all the pc parts in that you want to use, check how much power it says you will use and have that be between 50-75% of your power supplies limit.

As others have said before, 450w is the absolute minimum that is recommended. I personally like to leave myself some room, especially if you every plan to upgrade anything in your computer. hard drives, sound cards, capture cards, dvd drives, etc. everything adds power draw to your machine.

I don't know what you are planning to run with but I'd go the extra mile and grab a 500-650 power supply for yourself
