Both are fairly powerful but that resolution. Get a desktop with a 1920x1080 monitor to do gfx etc and running those programs with decimate your battery.

I wanted a desktop at first but barely any space in my room Sad Awesome So you say the main problem is the resolution? Is it not HD?

RIP PICHU.
The Toshiba is by far greater. If you want to put in some extra money, here is the laptop I got; renders and processes videos very quickly. Let's me play basically any game on the highest setting without any lag. (I've tested Skyrim at Ultra and there can be a slight lag here and there from loading new sections of the map).

I got it for $999 because it was during a sudden sale.
