Okay so there are some other threads that are about turning a Playstation Eye into a webcam, but I know alot of you have your old Playstation 2 eyetoys laying around in some junk pile around your house. Here are the steps to using that piece of crap for something useful.
1) If you have the Logitech [the black one] then go to this link for the driver files:
You must login or register to view this content.
If you had the Namtai [the silver one] go to this link for the driver files:
You must login or register to view this content.
2) Now extract all of the files to somewhere such as the desktop, but be sure to keep them all in one folder.
3) The next thing you'd have to do is to plug-in that old hunk-of-junk into your computer and click cancel in the install wizard.
4) Go to your control panel and try to locate something like "Hardware". It helps if you switch out of the category view.
5) Look for Device Manager and try to find imaging devices or where your eyetoy appears to be. [There would be an "!" and a "?"] Right click and select the "update" option.
6) Find where it has advance which should be the second choice I think, find where you had decided to put the driver files select it. Go ahead and hit the next button.
[NOTE: During the process of installing there may be some error messages or warnings but go ahead and accept them. There are two main ones where you would need to hit ok and yes and you should be done unless you computer needs to take some extra time to finish up processing the installation]
Okay, well I hope it works for you and please +rep, thank, and nominate because this took a while. Feel free to PM me for help and some links for additional advice.
