What type of ports are there on the laptop and the monitor?
If they both have VGA ports you need a VGA to VGA cable.

There are a few ways to do this.

1. (newb talk) The connections coming from your monitor can sometimes be DIRECTLY connected to your laptop. If this is true in your case, it sometimes instantly shows on the monitor. If not, on vista you can right click on your desktop -> Personalize -> Connect to a projector or other external display.

2. Get an adapter that connects to your pc and the monitor.

3. Use an HDMI cable. HDMI cables can connect to most TV's so this is the best choice. If you still wanna hook it up to your monitor and it doesnt have an HDMI connection, you can hook up your laptop and another pc through the HDMI cable.

a bit complicated and I explained very vaguely but it is very possible. If you can't figure it out, pm me your aim and I'll help you out Winky Winky

As long as your laptop does not go to sleep when it is closed. You can edit what your laptop does when it is closed and most people have sleep but mine does nothing Smile
