I've used about 10 myself with no consequences, but I can't be sure. They're obtained through Microsoft, but it's not 100% legit (Gray area). And while I doubt their ability to track the codes, caution / moderation would be advised, though I seriously doubt 5 codes would get you banned.

I'm only asking because previously someone was selling codes they generated themselves and Laney got banned from XBL. I was more interested in getting around 4000 msp which you are selling for about $40 and I can get them online for about $45 so saving $5 isn't work getting banned.

Like I said, I they shouldn't get you banned, but large amounts like 4000 at once might be a little suspicious.
Edit / Update: Many people on HF / TBN using these have had no issues.
