(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey well I'm from Australia and looking to build my first gaming pc, I want to be able to play all the newest games on the highest settings and hopefully for a bit of time to come! I also use web browsing and a bit of multimedia, nothing too stressful!

Heres my specs so far, any advice?

Case: Fractal Design Define R3 Titanium Mid Tower Case or NZXT Phantom 410, which one of them is better? If they are both good I will just go for looks.
Mobo: Asus P8Z77-M Motherboard
CPU: Intel i5 3550
RAM: Corsair DDR3 8GB (2x Vengeance 4GB) 1600MHz CL9
HD Seagate 3.5" Barracuda 1TB ST1000DM003
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 2GB OC for $519 or ZOTAC nVidia 670 2GB $449, I realise the Gigabyte is better but is it really worth $70 extra, will it make too much difference?
PSU: XFX ProSeries 550W Core Edition 80+ Bronze

Whats your thoughts on that? Will I be able to play pretty much all games on high settings with good FPS?

Edit: One last question, I can get a 7970 for around the same price, should I just get that and then overclock it over a 670?

ill start from the top:

for the case, i would go for the 410. i havnt heard much about the other case, but the 410 is a solid case. good cooling, features etc for the price.

motherboard i would swap for an asrock extreme 4. the mobo you have picked is a m-atx (micro-atx). this means it is smaller and therefore has less options in terms of expandability etc.

that cpu is a nice cpu. however, it is not a "k" edition meaning you will not really be able to overclock it. however, if you dont plan on overcloking that is a verry nice cpu.

ram is pretty much ram. all mostly the same so ram is fine.

hdd, it depedns who you ask. some people i have spoken to swear by barracuda hard drives. however, some say to avoid them as they claim they fail allot. personally i would go for a WD caviar black 1tb.

now, gpu is where my opinion differs from yours. to me, the 670 is overkill presuming you are using a 1080p monitor. my 7870 at stock speeds runns everything i throw at it at 1080p. this includes games such as BF3 on ultra, skyrim on ultra, etc etc. so i would suggest knoking the gpu down to a 7950. it is a more than capable card. or, if you have some patience, you could wait for the gtx 660 to be released. there are allot of rumours surrounding 660 release so you may have to wait awhile. up to you.

with the money saved on he gpu, i would buy an ssd for your bootdrive. ssd's boost overall speeds of system's SOOOO much and is worth every cent. so i would get a 64gb crucial m4. its not the fastest ssd out there, but is is one of the most reliable.

psu should be fine for your build. dont know much about that psu, but quick search on google looks good

Yeah I know its a mATX but going over the feature list it seems to have everything I will need, as long as it runs the build I've got there I doubt I will upgrade it too much in the near future.

About overclocking is it really worth the extra $40 or so (+ I'd need to buy a cooler too) I doubt I will be doing much overclocking unless it really is beneficial to gaming?

Yeah I've heard a bit of a mixed opinion about the HDD too, so I'm not entirely sure.

I think I'd want to stick with a 670 just to future proof it a bit, like I don't really want to upgrade ANY time soon so I'll probably try and go the best graphics card I can afford (which is a 670 or 7970 not sure on which one to go though)

Yeah I'd love an SSD but the problem is I'm already tight on my budget and Im not even factoring in a monitor/KB/Mouse/OS yet so its sure to rise a couple of hundred dollars, if I can afford one I definitely will grab one though, even if its a little bit later down the track!

Yeah i googled the PSU a bit too seems to be okay, would prefer modular but I just dont think I can afford it!
