that's a nightmare. It would never happen because of the amount of businesses that rely on internet. Think about the financial systems of the world... all on the web

Well, I'd march to DC with the rest of America in the worlds largest protest. Hell, turning off Internet for a year, would tear this country apart worse than the Civil War did. The whole world would go into Riot.

well you do know that some places in the world like 3rd world countries and countries that are mostly dessert and everyones constantly on the move, they do not use or have many of the things we do. if we didnt have any of that good stuff we would survive. more people would get out. our societies would be much more skinnier. more families would be tighter and there would be more things accomplished in the world. your basically forcing people to hang out with each other and become more friendly. honestly i think society would be better off even though our lazy society as it is now is getting more and more advanced.

They only survive though because they don't know how much better it gets. I mean internet porn... Go back to 1920 and tell him(or her) that he/she could see some shagging at the click of a button and he/she would faint from happiness and/or disbelief. Seriously.

The world has got lazier through the use of the internet. Everything is done online, shopping, banking, wanking, communications and so on. The internet has only been around (for public use) 18 or so years. That's not a long time for how quickly the world has changed. At one point, all the bills, letters and many other things were done on paper.
T.V, calling, texting or anything that works from a satellite would still work. I'm pretty sure they work on frequency, not internet (at least T.V and radio and I'm guessing mobile phones seeing as though they were out before the internet was).
A blackout on the other hand...
