An overwhelming number of gamers have been voicing their anger at what appears to be a Bad Company 2 server crash. Being disconnected whilst in the middle of a game of death-match is bad enough, but alongside this, it seems that all player stats (kills, deaths etc) have disappeared. [UPDATE: Some users are reporting their stats have been restored].
It’s not clear yet whether this is just temporary or something more serious where the stats have been lost permanently. The latter will make a major dent in EA’s huge success with the game and from reading their official forums, many gamers are ready to give up on the game and move on out of sheer frustration. Just two examples below to give you an ideal of the gamer sentiment over this:
EmperorSoviet: “Ok I finally got every pin last night and today I play a match get a server connection issue and bam all my stats are GONE. Fix this ASAP this is bull and I have no intention of playing or recommending this game to my friends till its fixed.”
Ashe Morris: “Same bull just happened to me a sec ago. Was playing one of the new maps and my game got cut all of a sudden. Now all my rank is gone, my guns and gadgets n stuff are all gone but I still for some reason have a big game score and all the dog tags, what the hell is this crap? This game has had more bugs than any other game I have EVER played! How can you release such a bug infested game to the public?!”
We think it’s highly unlikely that EA would not have back ups of the player stats, so in the worst case scenario they could always restore slightly back-dated stats. If they haven’t been taking backups then surely someone in their server management department needs to be fired.
For those that are searching franticly on Google to find out what’s wrong, be assured that EA will be working non-sot to restore everything back to normal for Xbox 360 gamers.
