Post: Is Football(Soccer) The Same As It Once Was?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); What I mean by this is whether football is changing too much, for example now-a-days players fall over at the slightest touch and cry about it whereas not too long ago they actually had some balls, they got up and got on with it.
Also the money involved in football is getting ridiculous, I'm sure if you got paid about 1/20 as much for being a world-class footballer many of them wouldn't even be there. To me a wage/transfer cap is required from FIFA, but that's another debate.

So what do you guys think, is it no longer "the beautiful game"?

Yeah it's been a drastic change over the years, not just the development of the sport e.g equipment, rules etc. But the attitude, players nowadays seem to be in for the money, big money. I agree that caps should be put in place for football player salaries, but it's not the only sport that is going ridiculous with spending, NBA and NFL plus a lot others are.

Yep Football was a tough game say 10 to 20 years ago, players could take a hit and get back up and show the desire to win by playing even harder after taking hits. Nowadays they take a hit, get a stretcher, slow the game and make a massive deal of the tiniest issues.

I personally think a lot of the passion has been lost from the game, and that was what made it 'beautiful'. If the players were passionate so were the fans, the whole atmosphere was amazing. Now you get players chasing money and glory, trading to bigger and better clubs just for that 15 minutes of fame. I would much rather see players bolstering flailing clubs and overcoming the big dogs in crucial matches. It would make it much more interesting and people would probably truly enjoy it more.

The game has improved in may ways. The pitches are now perfect, not like before when they used to play in 3ft of mud. The training the players receive in incredible now, it's practically a science in itself.

However, the silly amounts of money in the game is ruining it. Clubs like Manchester City who are able to afford any player in the world then by the second most expensive to sit on the bench. It's plain silly. The amount players get paid just makes their egos bigger that they already were.

The ref's are just shocking now, the slightest of touches and they'll give a free kick and a card. Everyone needs to grow a pair and play like it used to be in the 80's.

All that excess money could be better spent developing football in grassroots areas, building better pitches for all around the world. Giving people with 3rd world backgrounds more access to the game, many of them could support family and friends and even villages of footballers salaries.

Daddy's home.
I hate football. It's full of faggots that cry when the get tapped on the leg. You see rugby players with broken or busted noses every game all most and they continue to play. The footballer would be crying for a day and wouldn't play for a while. I also hate it when you see grown men cry because the team they support lost the cup. WTF? Grow up faggots. Plus, half of the fans are only their to cause trouble and riots. It's pathetic.

Now a days a player is out for 3 weeks with a scraped knee. In the old days they played with pulled hamstrings, spraints in there legs etc. Its quite pathetic now.

Yeah it's very soft, look at Steve Nash and Kobe in these Playoffs, broken nose, stitched eye, cut finger, sore elbows? Don't see them complaining at all, just plugging away from the desire to win it all!
