Japanese versions of Dark Water and The Ring, Thai version of The Eye... I don't know where you may find those, but it's possible to. Hmm... Silent Hill, it's not too scary, but grotesque and strange. If you like psychological thrillers / action / freaky things, Resident Evil movies aren't bad. Of course, the American versions of The Eye, Dark Water, and The Ring, they aren't quite as horrifying, but they aren't too bad. The Grudge, American or Japanese version... and last, but not least; Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, SCARIEST movie in the world. D':

EDIT: Rosemary's Baby, Troll 2 is effed up, horrible acting, but it's amusing, The Shining, Cloverfield was a GREAT movie, Jacob's Ladder, Amityville Horror, Pan's Labyrinth, Videodrome (effed up movie), Pet Sematary, etc.

The Shining is genually a good film, Nightmare on Elm Street is a funny film as is The Exorcist, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre films are alright but they're just your standard slasher movies. I didn't rate the first Halloween movie the second one is good though (the hospital one) and you can't go wrong with the Scream movies, though I can't be scared at soemone wearing that mask lol.

I don't know if this is "appropriate" but it all depends on what you consider as scary. Films such as Nightmare on Elm are kinda comical in my opinion. Scary to me are shockumentary films and weird stuff like that. Nothing is scarier than true real life human atrocities that happen everyday. Some may consider even watching any of these films as psychotic and totally disturbed.

-WARNING-
Before you attempt to find any of these films, keep in mind that these films are about as bad as it gets! These documentaries are banned in some countries and legal action can be sought if viewed in those countries. The scenes in these films are REAL and they are EXTREMELY graphic!

1. The Many Taboos of Death or The Many Faces of Death. (any of the films in this set are good)
