G20 Protest in Toronto - HD PICS

Background
Last week, leaders of nations from both the G8 and G20 gathered in Ontario Canada, for meetings in in Huntsville and Toronto. Canadian authorities planning for the event spent an estimated $1 billion, mostly for security. Tens of thousands of protesters descended on Toronto, looking to have their voices heard on a broad range of issues, from indigenous rights to anti-capitalist ideals, to human and animal rights, and much more. Many peaceful marches took place throughout the weekend, but on Saturday, a small group of "black bloc" anarchists became violent, smashing storefronts and burning several police vehicles. Harsher tactics and more arrests by the 20,000 police officers deployed to Toronto soon followed, although many of those arrested were released from a temporary G20 detainment center soon after.

So why are they protesting?

These people want their voices to be heard, many governments around the world are cutting back at the expense of the people and not the government, and so they protest.

March 6, 2011.
What were they talking about with the signs that say "Canada can't hide genocide"?

It's not just the governments, but also the banking and financial institutions that essentially had the power to prevent the financial crisises that have recently affected billions of people around the world, and chose not to do so for their own greed and power, and do as little as possible to help so that they can keep their money. Essentially...the phrase "you can't have your cake and eat it too" is something these economic leaders are trying to circumvent.

Get informed.

Probably the clubbing of baby seals and the whaling industry.
