Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has revealed that the platform holder is in the process of working on new hardware.
Speaking during a chinwag with Develop, Yoshida said that he was keen for developers to give their input into the creation of new platforms, insisting Sony has learned from past mishaps.
“When Ken Kutaragi moved on and Kaz Hirai became the president of SCE, the first thing Kaz said was, ‘get World Wide Studios in on hardware development’,” he commented.
“So he wanted developers in meetings at the very beginning of concepting new hardware, and he demanded SCE people talk to us [developers].”
The most obvious piece of kit that springs to mind is the PSP2, which according to industry chatter is poised for an official reveal at either GamesCom or the Tokyo Game Show later this year.
