Because Sony were originally going to release their console BEFORE Microsoft did! The only reason why they didn't was due to major faults with the online and playing the games. And, the PS3 console was released slightly after the 360 later that year (2007). So honestly, if you're saying 'OMG, Sony copied Microsoft!' that's bull. There are also many different things which will back what I've just said up too. Search around.
