This thread is to explain what all of the "Final Destination" movies are about. IMO I think it is a great series and I have always loved it since the first one came out. I am disappointed that the 4th sequel turned out the way that it did, but anyways....

Alex Browning (Devon Sawa) is going on a high school graduation trip to Paris with his fellow students. Before Volée Air Flight 180's take-off, Alex has a premonition that the flight will explode in mid-air, killing everybody on-board. Alex then finds himself back on the plane while it is still boarding. When events from his vision begin to repeat themselves in reality, he panics and attempts to stop the flight before take-off. The resulting commotion leads to a handful of passengers being left behind, including Alex, orphan Clear Rivers (Ali Larter), Alex's best friend Tod Waggner (Chad Donella), teacher Valerie Lewton (Kristen Cloke), Alex's rival Carter Horton (Kerr Smith), Carter's girlfriend Terry Chaney (Amanda Detmer), and student Billy Hitchcock (Sean William Scott). After they are all forced off the plane, none of the passengers believes that Alex's vision will come true until the airliner takes off and explodes in mid-air, killing everyone who was on board. The survivors are devastated, and two FBI agents interview the people taken off the plane, and are particularly interested with Alex's vision.
One month later, Tod is strangled in his shower, and his death is deemed a suicide. When Alex and Clear go to see his body, mysterious mortician William Bludworth (Tony Todd) tells them that Death is intervening to kill everyone who was meant to die on the plane. Terry falls victim the next day when she is hit by a bus. After watching a news report detailing the cause of the explosion of Flight 180 Alex comes to the conclusion that Death is killing the survivors in the order they would have died in the explosion on the plane. He determines that Ms. Lewton is next on Death's list. He rushes to her house but arrives too late to save her from being impaled in the stomach with a knife.
Alex contacts the remaining survivors, Billy, Clear and Carter, to tell them what he thinks is happening. As they are riding in Carter's car, Alex has another vision of a train and a seat-belt ripping. Frustrated with not having control over his death, Carter attempts to drive head-on into a fuel tanker but the car seemingly by itself turns and avoids the collision, Carter then stops his car on a train crossing, wanting to kill himself before Death does. At the last moment however he changes his mind but cannot exit his car as his seat-belt is jammed. Alex rushes to help Carter from his car, and as he foresaw, Carter's seat-belt rips and he is freed a second before the train destroys the car, thus cheating Death. However Billy is gruesomely decapitated from the jaw up by a piece of car shrapnel.
Alex believes that because he intervened in Carter's death he has saved Carter, Death skipped Carter and went on to Billy. Later he remembers in his original premonition he was asked to switch seats on the plane, and realizes that Clear is actually the next to die. Alex rushes to Clear's house to find her trapped in her car surrounded by fire. She is unable to escape her vehicle, which is about to explode, as a damaged electrical cable is precariously flipping around outside. Alex saves her by picking up the live cable, however he is electrocuted. Clear and the police rush to Alex's aid as the screen fades to white.
Six months later, Alex, Clear, and Carter are in Paris talking about their experience about Flight 180, and celebrating that it is all over and they are finally in Paris. Shortly thereafter, a freak incident involving a bus causes a giant neon sign to swing off a hinge down towards Alex. Carter manages to intervene and pushes Alex to the ground, with the sign swinging down past the two of them. Carter then stands up and turns to Alex who is still on the ground. Carter asks Alex who is next on Death's list. The sign swings back down on its momentum towards where Carter is standing; the screen fades to black and a loud whack is heard, leaving Alex and Clear as the last two survivors of Flight 180.

One year after the explosion of Flight 180, Kimberly Corman (A. J. Cook) has a premonition of a horrific pile-up on Route 23, killing everyone involved. She stalls her car on the entrance ramp with her friends Shaina (Sarah Carter), Dano (Alex Rae), and Frankie (Shaun Sipos). This stops teacher Eugene Dix (T.C. Carson), mother Nora Carpenter (Lynda Boyd) and her son Tim (James Kirk), pregnant Isabella Hudson (Justina Machado), lottery winner Evan Lewis (David Paetkau), drug addict Rory Peters (Jonathan Cherry), self-centered journalist Kat Jennings (Keegan Connor Tracy), and police officer Thomas Burke (Michael Landes), from entering the highway. While Tom questions Kimberly about the inconvenience, her vision becomes a reality. While those who were spared stare in shock, an 18-wheeler truck crashes into Kimberly's SUV killing Shaina, Dano and Frankie.
While the survivors are questioned at the police station, they are informed of Alex Browning and his vision of the Flight 180 disaster, but only Kimberly takes it seriously. After Evan is impaled through the eye by an escape ladder while attempting to escape a house fire, she fears that Death is indeed reclaiming the survivors. Kimberly visits Clear Rivers (Ali Larter), the last remaining Flight 180 survivor after Alex Browning is killed by a falling brick, in an asylum. Clear tells her that Death is working backwards because Evan was last to die in the vision. The only advice she gives Kimberly is to save herself. Kimberly and Tom begin working to save the other survivors using Kimberly's visions as clues. Despite their attempts, Tim falls victim next when he is crushed by a falling pane of glass. Clear then agrees to help and takes them to visit the strange mortician William Bludworth (Tony Todd), who tells the group that they can escape Death via new life. They conclude that delivering Isabella's unborn baby will save the survivors. Isabella is taken into custody while the others meet to keep each other alive. Nora leaves the group to prepare her son's funeral, but her head gets trapped in the malfunctioning doors of an elevator and she is decapitated.
Isabella soon goes into labor and has to be rushed to hospital by a hapless policeman. The survivors drive out to meet Isabella, and it is revealed they all escaped Death due to the Flight 180 passengers dying,(Kimberly would have been killed if she hadnt been distracted by a news report of Tod Waggner, Tom would have been killed in a shoot off but was at the scene were Billy Hitchcock died, Eugene would have been stabbed in the chest in a house fire but was transferred to another school and Valerie Lewton took over him, Kat would have been choked to death by a gas spill in a Bed and Breakfast but her bus hit Terry Chaney and Rory would have died in a collapsing theatre but was held up in a cafe after Carter Horton was hit by the sign) and Death is now reversing its list in order to bring everything to a whole. Isabella and the officer cause the survivors' car to crash. Eugene's lung is punctured by a pipe, and he is rushed to hospital. A family, the Gibbons, try to help everyone out of their situation, including their son, Brian (Noel Fisher). Brian is nearly hit by a van, but saved by Rory. Kat is then killed when a fireman accidentally sets off the airbag in her car with the jaws of life, knocking her head into a sharp pipe protruding from her headrest. A cigarette she drops ignites the spilled petrol tank of a news team's van, causing the van to explode and sending a barbed wire fence flying which dismembers Rory. Tom, Kimberly, and Clear race to the hospital. On the way, Kimberly has another vision of what she thinks is "Dr. Kalarjian" trying to strangle Isabella. When they arrive, they witness Isabella giving birth. They rejoice but both Eugene and Clear are killed in a gas explosion because Isabella was never meant to die in the pile-up. Kimberly makes a bold move by stealing an ambulance and driving into a nearby lake to sacrifice herself. She nearly drowns but is saved by Burke and then revived in the hospital by Dr. Kalarjian. The vision from earlier was Dr. Kalarjian standing by her side, not strangling Isabella. She and Tom are relieved that they have finally defeated Death.
Some time later, Kimberly, her father, Tom, and the Gibbons, who helped the survivors during their car crash, have a barbecue. The Gibbons mention to Tom and Kimberly that Rory saved Brian from being killed by the van, which the two apparently did not see. They realize that death didn't kill Brian because Rory saved him then the barbecue explodes and blows Brian to pieces. The film ends with Brian's arm landing on his mother's plate and his mother screaming while the screen blacks out to the credits.

(I MET RYAN MERRIMAN IN PERSON TWICE AND I HAVE HIS AUTOGRAPH!)

Six years after the explosion of Flight 180, Wendy Christensen (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a soon-to-be graduate and the school photographer at McKinley High School, visit an amusement park with her best friend Carrie Dreyer (Gina Holden), Carrie's boyfriend Kevin Fischer (Ryan Merriman), and her boyfriend, Jason Wise (Jesse Moss). As they board the Devil's Flight roller coaster, Wendy has a premonition that it will crash, killing everyone. Wendy panics and manages to get off the roller coaster along with Kevin, popular girls Ashley Freund (Chelan Simmons) and Ashlyn Halperin (Crystal Lowe), snobbish athlete Lewis Romero (Texas Battle), goth Ian McKinley (Kris Lemche) and Erin Ulmer (Alexz Johnson), and pervert Frankie Cheeks (Sam Easton). Wendy tries to save Jason and Carrie, but the roller coaster starts anyway and crashes, killing everyone left on it.
A few days after the roller coaster derailment, Kevin tells Wendy about Flight 180 and Alex Browning, whose premonition saved seven people of his class from the plane's explosion. Kevin claims that the people who got off of the roller coaster will start dying one by one in the same order they were meant to die in just as the survivors of the Flight 180, but Wendy thinks Kevin is just mocking her.
Ashley and Ashlyn are burned alive in overheating sunbeds later that day. Wendy realizes the photos she took at the amusement park are clues of the survivors' death, and she and Kevin set out to save the remaining survivors. Frankie is killed next when Kevin's truck slams into his car causing the engine to blow out and slash his head. When Wendy and Kevin go to warn Lewis, his head is crushed by two weights in a gym. They then try to save Ian and Erin.
Ian explains that Death must be some kind of plot, and if Wendy were to kill herself, It would ruin death's plans for her, since she isn't next to die. It would save everyone else still alive from the mechanical disaster. Planks of wood and large metal containers almost fall on Ian only to be saved by Wendy, but due to the planks of wood, sawdust goes into Erin's eyes and she tumbles backward and is shot multiple times in the head and hand with a nail gun.
While trying to find out who is next on Death's list, Wendy looks at the pictures and realizes that her sister Julie (Amanda Crew) and her best friend Perry Malinowski (Maggie Ma) were also on the roller coaster and goes to look for them while being stalked by Ian. She locates them with Kevin at a county fair. Julie is nearly impaled on a harrow while being dragged by a frightened horse. Kevin saves her in time, but the horse launches a flagpole towards Perry, who is impaled by it. Wendy then manages to save Kevin from a gas explosion. Ian confronts them about Erin's death, which he blames Wendy for. Wendy is next on Death's list, but she ducks just before fireworks hit her. A McKinley celebration sign mounted on a cherry picker suddenly falls and crushes Ian in half, while the 3 spectate in horror.
Five months later, Wendy is on a subway train with her friend and her roommate. She also meets Julie and Kevin on the same train. Wendy suddenly has another premonition that the train will derail, causing Julie to be hit by one of the train's wheels. Kevin is then smashed between the subway and the side wall of the tunnel. Wendy is flung off the back of the subway only to be hit by a second train. Wendy snaps out of the premonition and the three try to stop the train, though nothing works out. The screen cuts to black with the sounds of the train crashing, finishing off the last of the survivors. (In the making of the movie, the Director does say how they decided to "kill 'em all")

Ten years or almost a decade ago after the explosion of Flight 180, Nick O'Bannon (Bobby Campo) has a premonition of a racecar crash at the McKinley Speedway race track which sends debris flying into the audience, crushing several spectators and resulting in the stadium collapsing, which kills almost everyone in the 180 section. In a quick second, Nick manages to convince his girlfriend Lori Milligan (Shantel VanSanten), and friends Hunt Wynorski (Nick Zano) and Janet Cunningham (Haley Webb) to leave the stadium. They are followed out by others who are angry when the group pushes past them to escape, including mother Samantha Lane (Krista Allen), mechanic Andy Kewzer (Andrew Fiscella) and his girlfriend Nadia Monroy (Stephanie Honoré), racist race car driver Carter Daniels (Justin Welborn), and security guard George Lanter (Mykelti Williamson). The catastrophe Nick had seen occurs and kills several people, including Carter's wife, Cynthia (Lara Grice) who is sliced in half by the debris. Nadia scolds the group for their attitude, and a tire flies out of the track towards Nadia, abruptly ripping off her left arm and head.
Not long after a memorial for those who were lost, Carter attempts to burn a cross on George's front lawn because he blames George for stopping him from going back into the burning stadium to save Cynthia. His plan backfires and he is set on fire and dragged down the street by his tow truck. He is then blown up by the gas tanks in his car, and his blown off head lands next to George, who came out to see what is happening. The next day, Samantha is killed when a lawn mower rides over a rock, sending it flying through her eye. When Nick and Lori hear of the deaths they learn about the three previous disasters and realize that Death is back once again. Janet and Hunt ignore their warning, but Nick convinces George to help him conquer deaths plan. Andy is next, who gets killed by a CO2 tank that pushes him into a chain-link fence. Nick rushes to save Hunt while Lori and George go to find Janet, as they died at the same time in the premonition. Hunt is sucked into a pool drain and is killed when his organs are sucked out. Janet, however, is saved from drowning after her sunroof opens and a pipe bursts in a car wash.
George considers suicide due to causing the death of his wife and child, but is unable to kill himself. This leads the survivors to believe that saving Janet has defeated Death. Nick decides to take Lori on holiday. Janet and Lori decide to go shopping and see a movie before they leave. Nick realizes it isn't over because there was another survivor, Jonathan Grove (Jackson Walker). In the mall, Lori begins to see omens herself warning her that the danger is not over. Nick warns George about this and they go to the hospital where Jonathan is located, but he is crushed and drowned by an overfilled bathtub over a collapsed ceiling. Outside the hospital, George is hit by an ambulance, leaving it up to Nick to save the girls. During the movie, Lori begins to see omens herself warning her that the danger is not over. Nick arrives and pulls Lori from the cinema just before it explodes, impaling Janet on the flying wreckage. Another explosion causes Lori to be sucked into the escalator machinery. It is then revealed that the whole thing was another premonition. Nick fails to save George, but does save Lori and Janet by preventing the explosion caused by a fire above the mall.
Weeks later, the trio, thinking they have conquered Death's plan, celebrate surviving in a cafe. Nick notices a loose leg on a scaffold outside the cafe, and he tells a construction worker to fix it up. Once inside he drifts off into thought after seeing omens around him, and realizes that his premonitions and signs, along with all the disasters and deaths that had occurred since the speedway incident, are red herrings from Death used to manipulate them into where and when it would really come for them. Just as Nick realizes this, the scaffold falls, and in order to avoid it, a truck swerves, and crashes through the cafe window, crushing Janet, decapitating Lori, and causing Nick to fly and hit the wall which causes his jaw to be broken, thus leaving no survivors of McKinley Speedway.
