Hello everyone. I'm sure most of you have heard about Parkour.
If not, I'll give you guys a brief explanation on what it is. From Wikipedia: "is the physical discipline of training to overcome any obstacle within one's path by adapting one's movements to the environment." Basically, it is the French art of finding your own path. It was "invented" by David Bell.
What is the difference between Free Running and Parkour?
Parkour is defined as "getting from point A to point B the fastest".
Free Running, is what you see when people run up walls and do backflips and stuff.
Parkour, is what I master in. Parkour really depends on lower and upper body strength. The lower is used for jumping and wallrunning, while the upper is to pull your self up. Now, Parkour also requires mastery of skills. Skills such as wallrunning and vaulting. Also learning the ability to absorb shock from a fall.
FreeRunning, on the other hand, mainly relies on lower body strength.
What are some Parkour "Tricks"?
The most common "tricks" or "techniques" in Parkour are wallrunning and Vaulting.

How could I get started with Parkour?
Well, before you do anything, it would be a grand idea to start exercising. Working out your legs and then your arm strength. After you have been working out, for at least 2 times a week for 2 months, then you will be ready to practice the most basic and most helpful technique, the Ukemi roll. On the previous page, you will see a tutorial. What this does is it helps you absorb shock and send it throughout your whole body, rather than into your legs and as a result, breaking them.
After you have mastered that, work on jumping exercises. The idea is to enhance your jumps so that when you jump, your feet come up as high as your chest when you were standing.
After doing all that, now time to do the fun stuff!
Watch and study videos of Vaults. Get familiar with them and then move on to wallruns. Basically, after toning your body and working on balance, you're good to go!
