(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ok here's the deal my Marketing teacher asked this question in class and I cannot figure out.

Three brothers are taking a trip. On the trip they decide to stop at a hotel.

The hotel clerk tells them that the room costs $30, so each of the three brothers pays $10.

After they walk away the clerk, realizes that he overcharged them by 5 dollars. So he hands the bellhop five 1 dollar bills and tells him to bring it to the brothers.

On the way to the room he wonders how am I going to split five 1 dollar bill between three people. So he decides to keep 2 dollars and give the brothers only three back.

So now that each brother got 1 dollar back that means they all only paid 9 dollars each.

Since the brothers paid 9 dollars that means they paid 27, for the room. (9X3=27)

The bellhop only kept 2 dollars. 27+2=29.

Where's the missing dollar.

simple it's set up wrong..$30-$5=$25.. so the $3 from the brothers and $2 from the bell hop=$5... $5+$25=$30! technically speaking the brothers each paid $8.33

Because he kept the two dollars, then the three dollars between them. 3 dollars divided between 2 is 1.50 each. He would have simply let them sort out the change.
