But who was the man (or woman) behind this great Java written game? Marcus Persson, Notch to his friends and 653 555 people who have purchased his game. As you can see by that figure of gigantic proportions Minecraft has tremendous support. Not only in the sale figures but in the community as well. If you go look at the [url=”

The game is in two different modes right now, Alpha and Classic. Classic is free and is based on building things. There is no health or mobs* and no items. Quite the opposite is Alpha. Mobs are scary to encounter and can ruin your house, so don’t diss teh zombiez.

What could attribute to the games success is the dedication of Notch in updating the game. Or maybe the strong support by popular YouTube commentators Seananners and JX23 among others.
In September 2010, Notch founded a new company, Mojang. It was to be funded by the proceeds from Minecraft but plans for Persson's new company were delayed by weeks when his account with PayPal was frozen without reason containing over $763,000 USD in proceeds from Minecraft sales.
Classic is free to play in browser
