I wish you people would talk the admins into buying gige. This would solve every problem the server has, especially ddos protection. We definately could afford it.

DDoS protection is never possible.
There are things that will moniter it yes, but imagine you have a large botnet, over 5k people, its going to be hard to block them all.

5k is not even alot. Maybe if they were 100mbit nix boxes, but even still would not touch gige. Go read about gige servers before you post kthx bai
