nope you can use any theme although i highly suggest if your serious about the site you buy vBulletin because if you null it they will catch you.

You just said u had it "online atm". vBulletin guys can catch u with a simple google search so my advice is once you get your site famous, dont risk it, just buy the official one and replace your database. To answer your question though, no, the theme does not know if the database is nulled or not.

That's what i said about my site but they shut me down. People get sued for it too so good luck.
