Sony has said that it plans to fix recent PS3 security breaches through a series of network updates.

Earlier this week, hackers completely tore apart the console's few remaining lines of defence against running unauthorised code, and subsequently released the first custom PS3 firmware.

Sony has remained quiet on the issue until now, having just told our friends at Edge: "We are aware of this, and are currently looking into it. We will fix the issues through network updates, but because this is a security issue, we are not able to provide you with any more details."

Hacking groups don't believe this will be possible though, telling the BBC: "The complete console is compromised - there is no way back. The only way to fix this is to issue new hardware. Sony will have to accept this."

The big boys are in play now.

if we have keys to sign stuff, cant what has been done now happen again for every update they do unles they change the keys... i.e just change OFW slightly so it shows the option (already in the firmware) to install pkgs?

i am just as positive as u that they cant patch it, becuz its the root keys and only way to change them is hardware modification, but what if they know something that we dont???? if u light a firework and it burns but doesnt blow, never go back to it, becuz it can blow up anytime, like sony

sooo.... could this lead to a full trophy system exploitation/hack rendering the trophy system meaningless?
