1. Buy diaphram and contraceptive ointment from pharmacy

2. Wash hands with soap and hot water.

3. Dab contraceptive cream, foam or jelly in the diaphragm cup and

4. spread it around the rim.

5. Find a comfortable position such as standing with one foot up on a chair, sitting at the edge of a chair or squatting.

6. Separate the labia with fingers of one hand and pinch the rim of the diaphragm with the other, folding it in half.

7. Place index finger in center of fold for a firmer grip.

8. Push diaphragm as far up and back into the vagina as possible.

9. Secure diaphragm behind the pubic bone.

10. Make sure the cervix is covered.

11. (optional) Wash hands again with soap and hot water.

ProTip:

If you have a retainer case, it is a great place to keep the diaphragm when not in use.

Bend a metal close hanger so it has a hook at the end and reach up in there and pull it out. This can also double as a do it yourself abortion tool in case the diaphragm fails.
