Post: My Thoughts on Immigration

Read My Mind
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I read an article about a girl who is an illegal immigrant who received a full scholarship to college but was fearful that she would not be able to attend the college due to the rejection of the new immigration laws. People were also protesting this girls ability to attend the college because it was unfair to true Americans.

The main point of contention here is that she beat out thousands of other legitimate Americans to receive the scholarship. But my question is, what makes her less American than the other candidates aside from a social security number? In essence she could be twenty times more patriotic than any other candidate and thus be considered 'more American'.

I do not agree with immigrants crossing the border and taking jobs from blue collar American workers but if someone like that girl who has been living in the country for 18 years is denied citizenship I don't think that's fair either because they've had all that time to learn about American culture and values through their time at compulsory schooling.

For those of you who didn't automatically say to yourselves tl;dr what do you think, should the girl be granted citizenship?

Rules are rules, but you have a legitamate point. It's hard to choose a side on this topic, so I'm going to sit the fence on this.

"Without a concise set of rules to follow we would probably all have to resort to common sense."

She obviously deserves what she worked for and the technicalities behind her situation shouldn't change that...

I'm going to sit under the fence and slowly be impaled by it.

She should have been fully vetted before she was able to apply for the scholarship.

If she was fully informed of the rules for qualification and it made no mention of her resident status when she applied.

If both of those conditions were met than she should receive it or the dollar value of the scholarship for use at another school.

I mean that would be unfair, that's like picking a girl dog over a boy because the girl doesn't get red rockets.

You can't just say hey, You're allowed because you are smarter, but none of you other immigrants are allowed citizenship

FALSE.....she was an illegal immigrant getting a scholarship

NOT a DENIED illegal immigrant getting a scholarship

+the people shouldn't give her the scholarship anyways because people do a background check before giving out thousands of dollars.

and our society is retarded for even looking at the wetbacks application :carling:

It would all result in the same way...
>Immigrant gets the scholarship
>Immigrant automatically has higher qualifications than one American citizen
>Immigrant gets better employment opportunities while an American gets to scrub toilets

Countries have all these immigration policies in the interests of their population and if one person gets allowed in then other people could use that as an argument. Looking past all this Irelands control over foreigners is bollocks.
